For those who like to make race-day decisions for their Active Pursuits, here’s a list of offerings to Sign Up. Line Up. And Go! this weekend.
Santa Cycle Rampage: Anticipation for this cycling celebration has grown to match children’s excitement for Christmas. Hundreds of riders have been busy in their workshops crafting costumes and decorations to roll in full, festive regalia. The staging starts at 9 a.m. Saturday at Fuel Cafe, Cafe Centraal, and both Cafe Hollander locations (Downer Ave. and Wauwatosa). The full rampage starts at 11 a.m. at the Lakefront Brewery, rolls to the Great Lakes Distillery, then on to Kochanski’s Concertina Beer Hall. Cafe Centraal hosts the post-ride party at 4 p.m. Upwards of 500 Santas are expected this year. Be safe, and enjoy the liquid spirits in moderation. All the details can be found here.
The Fatty in Platty: The 9:Zero:7 Wisconsin State FatBike Race Series opens with a first-time event in Platteville. The night-time ride on a combination of snowmobile trails, city trails and single track starts at 6 p.m. outside the Las Palmas Mexican Restaurant, 300 E. Business 151. Registration is $40 and opens at 3:30. Riders are required to have front and rear lights. Click here for more information.
Check your tracks: Naturalists at Devil’s Lake State Park will identify animal tracks and the tales they tell on Saturday afternoon. Gather at the Nature Center at 1 p.m. More information can be found here.
