Rodee Schneider, in the yellow and white singlet, outran the rest of the field in the half marathon in the Tyranena Beer Run. The 31-year-old from Appleton finished the loop in 1:16:15, about two minutes faster than Pete Metz, 36, of Germantown. Bart Gurgel, 37, of Milwaukee, finished third in 1:18:41. In the women’s race, Erin Moldenhauer, 31, of Ripon, chased down Trisha Feldhausen over the last five miles and won in a time of 1:32:14. Feldhausen was second in 1:33:01 and Kiersten Ludvigson, 27, of Middleton, finished third in 1:34:13.
As a spectator, it was easy to see why the Tyranena Half and Sixth Barrel fills up more than six weeks ahead of race day. From the parking to the beer delivery, the race exemplified solid organization. A beautiful fall afternoon brought out smiles and good spirits among the 1,383 who raced.
