Organizers of the Greenbush Nordic Challenge held out hope through the week, but decided to cancel the race scheduled for Sunday because of the lack of snow on the trails near Plymouth.
The race may be rescheduled for late February or early March, according to director Jim Sedlacek. A decision will be made later today on whether to hold the middle school and high school races.
Reports posted on Skinnyski.com describe the trails at Greenbush as skiable, with some debris and dirt starting to show through. While skiable for a recreational outing, the snow likely would not hold up with dozens of skiers racing.
Lapham Loppet: Thanks to the snow-making system at Lapham Peak, in Delafield, the 11K Lapham Loppet will go on Saturday morning. Skiers will race on the 1-kilometer loop. Check here for more details.
