Even though she’s reached 55 years old, Joan Benoit Samuelson could easily outpace most anybody trying to run with the 1984 women’s Olympic marathon champion.
Fortunately, the icon and runner activist will keep the pace at a conversational speed during a fun run Wednesday night, starting at the University of Wisconsin – Milwaukee Student Union, at 5:30 p.m. The run will be part of an evening program featuring Samuelson, who will speak in the union ballroom and present the new Nike documentary about her career, “There is No Finish Line.”
Here are the details: Samuelson will lead a three-mile Fun Run at 5:30 p.m. Wednesday night, starting at the University of Milwaukee Student Union, 2200 E. Kenwood Blvd.
Participants will gather with Samuelson at 6:15. The program, including a screening of “There Is No Finish Line” will begin at 7 p.m. A question and answer session will follow from 8:15 to 9.
All events are free but organizers ask that participants register through this site.
