Hundreds of Santas prepped for their big night with a 5K dash on the Milwaukee lakefront Saturday morning, in a race to benefit Playworks Milwaukee.

In its second year, the Milwaukee Santa’s 5K drew 697 runners and walkers. All Community Events, based in Chicago, sponsored the race based in McKinley Park. While Udovich won the men’s race, Angie Krueger, topped the women’s field and finished fourth overall, in a time of 19:46. The full results can be found here.

Playworks Milwaukee is part of a national organization that organizes safe, healthy and inclusive activities for children. More than 5,000 children participate each day at a dozen area schools.

Once those Santa suits have been cleaned, they can be put to use as running gear once again in the Santa Hustle 5K, another holiday-themed run on the lakefront. The inaugural race is slated for Dec. 22, at 9 a.m., at the Milwaukee Art Museum. Check out details here.
